Twice Exceptional Gifted Students
Gifted students who are Twice Exceptional, sometimes referred to as "2E", are very unique in that they have superior talents that certify them as "gifted" but it is coupled with a disability. The disability may be focused in a certain subject area, be the result of a physical or mental impairment, stem from social/emotional issues, or have a medical diagnosis such as ADHD or Asperger's Syndrome. It is often extremely difficult to identify these students because their abilities and disabilities can compensate or level out each other, hiding each exceptionality.
